Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting – ATCM 23/06 - 3/07 2025 Milano

The 2025 ATCM meeting will be held at Fiera Milano Congressi (MI.CO.). For further information: Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meetings – Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale

On the occasion of the meeting, the PNRA is presenting an exhibit titled ITALY IN ANTARCTICA.

The aim of this exhibit is to offer the Delegates of the 47th ATCM 2025 a bird’s eye view of the Italian National Antarctic Research Program (PNRA) with special attention to those aspects relevant to the Antarctic Treaty System.

We also wish to remember and honor our esteemed colleagues, the late Prof. Francesco FRANCIONI and Dr. Marino VACCHI, for their outstanding contributions to Antarctic studies, particularly within the ATCM and CCAMLR.

The exhibit will become part of a larger exhibition celebrating 40 years of the presence of Italy in Antarctica, that will be shown in December 2025 in Rome, at the CNR headquarters. This major exhibition will offer the visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the work of the PNRA.

PNRA is strongly committed to Education and Outreach, aiming to convey both the value of Antarctic research and the spirit of the Antarctic Treaty. These activities are meant to raise awareness on the need to protect this unique continent and preserve it as a place of peace and science.

This PNRA exhibit, promoted by the Italian national Antarctic Scientific Commission (CSNA), sponsored and financially supported by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR), is realized by the Italian National Antarctic Museum (MNA) and by the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), in collaboration with the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA) and the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS).
