Polar Data Forum V (PDF V) will be hosted by the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) from October 30th through November 3rd, 2023 and will be held both at the Aurora Innovation Centre in Cambridge, UK and online. The Forum follows International Data Week (IDW) to be held in Salzburg Austria October 23-26, 2023.

The meeting is co-organized by various polar partners, including the Standing Committee on Antarctic Data Management (SCADM), Sustaining Arctic Observing Networks (SAON), the Southern Ocean Observing System (SOOS), and the World Data System, among others.

Si è conclusa ufficialmente la missione della rompighiaccio Laura Bassi nell’ambito della campagna oceanografica della 38° Spedizione Italiana del Programma Nazionale di Ricerche in Antartide, Dopo più di 12 mila miglia percorse e 40 giorni di navigazione dal porto di Lyttelton in Italia, lunedì 17 Aprile la rompighiaccio Laura Bassi è arrivata al porto di Ravenna.

The INStabilities & Thresholds in ANTarctica (INSTANT) Scientific Research Programme aims to quantify the Antarctic ice sheet contribution to past and future sealevel change, from improved understanding of interactions and feedbacks with atmosphere, ocean and solid Earth interactions and feedbacks, so that decision-makers can better anticipate and assess the risk in order to manage and adapt to sea-level rise and evaluate mitigation pathways. 

Si conclude con l'arrivo al porto di Lyttelton in Nuova Zelanda il 5 marzo alle ore 3:31, ore italiane, la campagna di ricerca oceanografia della nave italiana rompighiaccio, Laura Bassi, dell’OGS. Il rientro della nave  in Italia è previsto per la seconda metà di aprile 2023.

21-22-23 March 2023 hosted by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, in Oslo, Norway.  A joint workshop of the International Ice Charting Working Group (IICWG), the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, the EUMETSAT Ocean and Satellite Application Facility (OSI SAF), the European Space Agency Climate Change Initiative for Sea Ice (ESA CCI), and the Sea Ice Retrieval and Data Assimilation in Norway (SIRANO).

The XIII SCAR Biology Symposium will be held from July 31st to Aug 4th, 2023 in Aotearoa New Zealand and specifically in Ōtautahi Christchurch. The goal is to bring together the world’s leading scientists and early career researchers in Antarctic Biology for the first face-to-face SCAR meeting in 3 years.
