Call for the officer of the european polar coordination office

The European Polar Board (EPB) is a leading independent organization dedicated to  advancing strategic priorities in Arctic and Antarctic research. EPB brings together European  research institutes, logistics operators, funding agencies, and governmental ministries to  promote collaboration in polar science and inform policymakers. In January 2025, EPB will  host the European Polar Coordination Office (EPCO), acting as a central contact point for the  European polar research community, policymakers and decision-makers, including the  European Commission.

Antartide: campagna decisiva per raggiungere il ghiaccio di 1,5 milioni di anni fa

È iniziata in Antartide la quarta campagna del progetto Beyond EPICA - Oldest Ice. Un team  internazionale di 16 scienziati e personale logistico è impegnato nel sito remoto di Little Dome C,  situato a un'altitudine di 3.200 metri con temperature medie estive di -35°C. L'obiettivo è estrarre  una carota di ghiaccio profonda 2.750 metri dalla calotta antartica.

Antartide: al via la 40a spedizione italiana di ricerca

La missione, attuata da Cnr, ENEA e OGS, nell’ambito del Programma Nazionale di Ricerche in Antartide (PNRA), coinvolge un team di 140 persone tra tecnici, ricercatori e ricercatrici, impegnato nelle basi Zucchelli e Concordia e sulla nave Laura Bassi in progetti riguardanti diverse discipline, tra cui glaciologia, climatologia, biodiversità e oceanografia.

POLARIN first Transnational Access Call for proposals

The EU funded project POLARIN invites the scientific community to submit proposals to access 49 Research Infrastructures (RIs) in both polar regions contributing to addressing the key research priorities.  Apply for accessing polar research infrastructures until the 28th of November 2024, 4 pm CET

Webinar introducing the 1st POLARIN Transnational Access Call - 21 October 2024

POLARIN is an international network of polar research infrastructures and their services, aiming at addressing the scientific challenges of the polar regions. The network includes a wide array of complementary and interdisciplinary top level research infrastructures: Arctic and Antarctic research stations, research vessels and icebreakers operating at both poles, observatories, data infrastructures and ice and sediment core repositories.

È stato pubblicato l'Avviso per la presentazione di proposte di finanziamento destinate a progetti di ricerca volti ad approfondire le conoscenze sull'Antartide, con l'obiettivo di migliorare la comprensione dei processi di interazione e connessione tra i vari comparti del sistema Terra (criosfera, idrosfera, atmosfera, biosfera e litosfera) presso la Stazione italo-francese Concordia.

COP29 Cryosphere Pavilion November 11-22, 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan

The COP29 Cryosphere Pavilion will be held in partnership with Chile and Iceland, the two Co-Chairs of the Ambition on Melting Ice High-level Group. Building off the success of the past four Cryosphere Pavilions at COP25, COP26, COP27 and COP28, this year’s Pavilion will provide a space for exhibits, science-policy seminars or “side events,” and ministerial-level events with representatives from polar, mountain, coastal nations and more all affected by the impacts of cryosphere loss.
