The main objectives are: 1. completion of sampling for petrological, geochemical and geochronological researches; 2. elaboration of a photogeological map of the region between the David Glacier to the south, the ice plateau to the West and the Mountaineer Range to the NE; 3. preliminary geological remote sensing from satellite images. In particular, in the area already covered during the 1985/86 campaign, observations and sampling were intensified, in order to acquire data sufficient for the preparation of a preliminary geological map, which combine field observations carried out so far with data from photointerpretation of aerial and satellite images. The aim is to distinguish, in the map, the different metasedimentary sequences from the lower metamorphic grade to the high grade including granulites, discovered during the past campaign, and to understand the relationships with the intrusive magmatic rocks.
