The project

The studied area is the NE sector of Victoria Land. The study mainly concerned the Wilson Terrane, the suture zone between the latter and the Bowers Terrane and the Admiralty Intrusives. In particular, the objectives were: 1. detailed analysis of the internal structure and lithological features of the migmatic-granulitic complex in the Wilson Terrane; 2. structural and metamorphic analysis of the relationships between the various metasedimentary sequences of the Wilson Terrane; 3. mapping and sampling of metamorphic rocks and Granite Harbor Intrusives at the NE margin of Wilson Terrane; 4. mapping and sampling of Dessent Unit; 5. mapping and sampling of Admiralty Intrusives cropping out in the suture zone between the Wilson and the Bowers terranes; 6. sampling of Admiralty Intrusives of the Robertson Bay Terrane for petrographical and geochemical studies and for a comparison with others analogous rocks in different sectors of northern Victoria Land.
