The project

The research mainly interested the three "Terranes" constituting the north-eastern part of Terra Vittoria: Wilson (crystalline basement), Bowers (volcano- sedimentary complex) and Robertson Bay (sedimentary unit) characterized by different grade of metamorphism. Expected objectives are: 1. sedimentological features of the Priestley formation (Wilson Terrane); 2. tectono-metamorphic relationships between the different lithostratigraphic units of the Wilson Terrane with particular attention to the Priestley Formation and the Priestley Schist. Further research are devoted to the field relationships between the migmatic complex with granulite bodies and Priestley Schist, and to the delimitation of the granulite bodies with respect to the migmatic complex; 3. geological features of the area between Mount Murchison and Tucker Glacier; 4. geological mapping of the ​​Robertson Bay and Bowers terranes and related sedimentological study.
